New Angel sparks £100K funding in FarmWizard

Agri internet company FarmWizard today announced a £100K funding package enabling it to develop its rapidly growing business outside Northern Ireland. The new investment was raised via the Northern Ireland Business Angel Network halo, backed with InvestNI “Passport to Export” grant. This latest cash injection brings the total amount invested in the company to £300K since it was founded in February 2004. FarmWizard’s Managing Director, Terry Canning stated; “With a customer base of over 750 farms primarily based in Northern Ireland, the company is now focused on growing its business internationally”. Director of halo, Desmond Oliver said “When Terry first approached Investment Belfast with his expansion plans for FarmWizard we put him in front of a halo investor forum panel (some call it our Dragons Den). After that, contact was made with a Fermanagh Based business angel Mr Patrick Blake whose strategic investment led to £100K new funding for the next stage of expansion”.

FarmWizard provides the first ever online herd management service which helps dairy and beef farmers maintain legislative and management records. The company has won a number of international awards including the Sybase Technical Innovators Award 2006, Irish IT SME project of the Year 2006 and the BT Business Eye Best Use of Mobile Technology 2006.
